Are you ready to blow your mind reaching the “Lake Como International Museum of Vintage boats” where you will find a wonderful Riva collection?
This boat tour (3,5hrs) will lead you in north Lake Como.
THE TOUR IN A NUTSHELL:
First of all we will admire VILLA LA GAETA, the famous set of 007-Casino Royale and then we will proceed towards Castle of Santa Maria Rezzonico and the romanic area of San Vito in Cremia.
Once we have reached the town of Pianello del Lario we will stop for a guided tour (about 50 minutes) at the MUSEO DELLA BARCA LARIANA – THE INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF VINTAGE WOODEN BOATS. Here you will find an entire hall dedicated to the famous italian engineer Carlo RIVA and his stunning wooden boats produced in Sarnico (tickets included in the price).
After the guided tour we will get on board again direction the ancient medieval Castle in “Corenno Plinio”. After 25 minutes of navigation, passing in front of LA FALESIA DEL GHEZ, a cliff overlooking the lake, popular destination for expert climbers, we will reach Varenna, the most characteristic town of the central lake area (we will stop there for about 30-40min).
In Varenna you will find the wonderful CHIESA DI SAN GIORGIO (St. George Church) and lots of typical shops, snack bars and ice-cream stands.
During the last part of our journey will pass in front of PUNTA SPARTIVENTO, a natural area where you can admire all the 3 branches of Lake Como (Como branch; Lecco branch; Norther branch).

The International Museum of Vintage wooden boats
Located in Pianello del Lario (CO) in a splendid 19th-century spinning mill, the Museo Barca Lariana protects a heritage that is unique in the world. In the museum rooms and warehouses, over four hundred historic boats are preserved, including rowing boats, gondolas, fishing, hunting and smuggling boats, inboard and outboard motorboats, passenger steamboats, racing three-pointers, sailing boats and ancient work boats.
Among the most important pieces, the museum houses the two oldest gondolas in the world, one of which is perfectly preserved and with felze; the Laura I° Abbate, the first boat to break the 200 km/h barrier; the Merope sailing boat by Agostino Straulino, gold medal in Helsinki in 1952; the Cisko- Yu, a spectacular English Thames A-Rater sailboat from the late 19th century and the last traditional boats still alive on Lake Como.
The last work was the inauguration of the Riva room, a collection of the most beautiful runabouts produced by the famous Sarnico brand, a tribute to Carlo Riva, the man who elevated the concept of a boat to an object of desire and a symbol of Made in Italy in the world.
